Early Head Start Assistant Coordinators
Excellent opportunity to be in a middle management position for an agency which provides high quality early childhood education services in multiple counties. Positions manage and oversee the daily functioning of the EHS traditional model services. Coordinates programs, services, and staff in both the center- and home-based services. Serve as liaison to agency partners serving Early Head Start children with Individual Family Service Plans and/or active enrollment in specialized services, etc. (such as, Intermediate Unit, Mental Health organizations). Family Support Assistants
Full time positions (200 days/year) available as Family Support Assistants for an agency which provides high quality early childhood education services in Snyder, Union, and Mifflin counties. Office location in Mifflinburg.

Facilitate relationships among the home, the parents, community agencies, and resources and the staff in Head Start classes. Provide a planned program of experience and activities that support and enhance the parents’ role as the principal influence in their child’s education and development within the Head Start program. Must have the ability to work with cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic diverse populations, work independently plus have excellent verbal and written communication skills plus office management skills.

Early Head Start Home Visitor

Deliver home-based Early Head Start services to families. Preferred background should include two plus years’ experience in services with infants/toddlers and one year’s experience working with families in a home-based setting. Minimum requirement is a CDA in home-based or infant/toddler, prefer Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field.

Employment Opportunities in Mifflin County

Healthy Families America (HFA) Program Manager – An exciting opportunity to manage and oversee the daily functioning of an evidence-based home visiting program. Funded by a multi-year federal grant, SUMCD has established a Healthy Families America affiliate program designed to serve high risk families in Mifflin County. This full-time middle management position will coordinate the HFA program, services, and staff, to ensure compliance with HFA , state, and federal requirements and guidelines.

Requirements: Master’s degree in human services or fields related to working with children and families, or Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

  • A solid understanding of and/or experience in supervising and motivating staff, as well as providing support to staff in stressful work environments
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment
  • Experience with family services that embrace the concepts of family-centered and strength-based service provision
  • Knowledge of maternal-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect
  • Experience in providing services to culturally diverse communities/families
  • Experience in home visiting with a strong background in prevention services to the 0-3 age population
  • Infant mental health endorsement level III or IV preferred.
  • Experience with reflective practice preferred.
